The objective of this research was to analyze Academic stress as a cause of the inappropriate use of medications in students in the Uleam Medicine Course, years 2023-2024 through a quantitative study. The methodology that was applied was quantitative with a non-experimental and transversal design, under bibliographic, analytical-synthetic, inductive-deductive, descriptive and field methods in which the survey was used as a research technique, applying a questionnaire of closed questions to a sample of 300 Medicine students, whose results showed that students experience high levels of stress such as sleep disorders that have affected 48% of students, chronic fatigue that has affected 38%, headaches and miragías in 37%, anxiety, anguish or despair in 38%, leading to the inappropriate use of medications such as Clonazepam (Klonopin®), Citalopram, Triazolam (Halcion®), Sertraline, Alprazolam (Xanax®) and Quetiapine to mention the most consumed, which are mostly prescribed by doctors and friends. It was concluded that academic stress in students is attributed to the intense academic load, competition among peers, high personal and social expectations, and above all the pressure to perform in exams and clinical practices that have led to emotional exhaustion, anxiety, depression, insomnia, and in extreme cases, burnout syndrome.es
