Análisis del sector agrícola en el cantón Montecristi, provincia de Manabí y su influencia en el desarrollo económico, período 2017 – 2021.

Abstract

The agricultural sector has been an economic activity that has constituted a fundamental pillar for the economic development of cities, regions, and countries since ancient times. It has integrated with other sectors of the economy, driving employment, infrastructure, and improving the living environment of the population, particularly those living in rural areas. For this reason, the general objective of the research is to analyze the agricultural sector of Montecristi Canton in the Province of Manabí and its influence on economic development during the period 2017 - 2021. The aim is to characterize the relationship of this sector with the satisfaction and quality of life of the inhabitants. To achieve this, a mixed approach was applied, using a non-experimental descriptive research type to describe the main characteristics and determinants of the agricultural sector in Montecristi Canton in relation to economic development. This contributed to finding that the agricultural sector in recent years has experienced various negative variations due to the country's main problems, such as political and economic instability, unemployment, and other exogenous factors associated with the reputational crisis arising from the health emergency. Consequently, this has led to higher levels of poverty and dissatisfaction with the basic needs of the Montecristi population.
