Abstract

The objective of this project is to determine the viability and feasibility of implementing a savings bank to meet the financing needs of artisanal fishermen who make up the Cooperative of Artisanal Fishing Production “20 de Septiembre” in the parish of San Mateo in the canton of Manta. The methodology applied for this project is based on two approaches: 1) qualitative, which determine the feasibility of the project through the analysis of the current conditions of the external and internal environment, for this, the PESTEL, Porter's Five Forces, VRIO and SWOT tools were applied; and 2) quantitative, which determine the feasibility of the project, for this, financial indicators and profitability measures were used. The results obtained are: 1) from the SWOT analysis, it was determined that in the environment there are more threats than opportunities and that the weaknesses outweigh the strengths, therefore, the feasibility of the project is low; 2) with the application of strategies that promote the savings culture and financial self-management of the Members of the Savings Bank, the financial indicators point to sufficient liquidity to meet the obligations contracted for the first three years, while, the NPV of $9. 190.94, the IRR of 75% and the Pay Back of approximately 3 years, indicate that it is feasible to implement the Savings Bank.
