Abstract

The discussion around economic growth and GDP per capita has become a frequent topic of conversation when analyzing changes in the economy of a country or region. This study aimed to analyze economic growth and the behavior of GDP per capita in Ecuador during the last five years. To evaluate the relationship between "GDP or economic growth" and "GDP per capita", Correlation Analysis or Pearson Regression Model was used based on the methodology explained by Germán Fiallos. This test is widely recognized to measure the tatistical relationship between two continuous variables. In this study, the independent variable Y was identified as "GDP", which serves as a measure of the economic development of provinces, countries or regions. On the other hand, the dependent variable was presented as "GDP per capita". The analysis revealed an average evaluation of 72.38% between the variables Y (GDP or economic growth) and X (GDP per capita). Furthermore, the relationship between GDP per capita and GDP per capita alone accounts for 52% of the impact on variable substantial difference between economic progress and the development index, as pointed out by several authors.
