Abstract

To develop a health promotion plan through educational talks for dengue prevention in educational institutions in Manta, Ecuador. Methodology. The research was based on a literature review and the application of Nola Pender's Health Promotion Model. The main causes and repercussions of dengue in educational settings and their impact on student health were identified. Additionally, the recognition of dengue signs and symptoms was promoted, and the importance of avoiding self-medication was emphasized. Results. It was determined that dengue has a high incidence in tropical and subtropical areas such as Manta. Preventive healthy practices can significantly reduce the risk of contagion within the educational community. A health promotion plan focused on dengue prevention in educational institutions was developed, utilizing resources such as brochures and videos for students and educational staff. Conclusions. The implementation of educational measures in schools is crucial for dengue prevention. Continuous awareness and education can enhance knowledge about the infection and foster lasting hygiene habits, thus contributing to the reduction of dengue cases in the community.
