Resumen : | Bacteremia in dentistry refers to the presence of bacteria in the bloodstream as a result of invasive dental procedures that involve manipulation of the gingival tissue, periodontium, or periapical regions of the teeth. Furthermore, bacteremia has also been found to be caused by everyday activities such as dental plucking, use of dental hylum, and chewing. Most bacteremias are transient and do not cause problems in healthy people, but in patients with certain heart conditions they can represent a high risk. The use of antibiotic prophylaxis is important in these cases of congenital heart disease and seeks to reduce transient bacteremia and the development of infective endocarditis. Therefore, it is essential that the dentist is able to understand the diseases or heart conditions that the patient has in order to be able to act before, during and after dental treatment, and it is also extremely important that he or she knows the appropriate antibiotics for each patient. and in what situation it should be managed or avoid. |
