Abstract

Intellectual property plays a crucial role in copyright e-commerce; its proper protection and management are essential to foster innovation, ensure authorship and guarantee a fair business environment in the digital world. Therefore, the objective of this research was to analyze the legal interaction between intellectual property and e-commerce, identifying potential copyright infringements in the year 2022. This study is based on methodological strategies of qualitative approach, descriptive type, which employs the logical, historical, inductive and deductive method, as well as interviews with two lawyers knowledgeable on the subject. The results indicated that during the year 2022, a significant increase in the illegal distribution of copyrighted content through e-commerce platforms was observed. The ease of access to digital products and the lack of effective regulation in some places allowed infringers to operate with impunity, generating economic losses for rights holders and undermining the incentive for creation and innovation. It is concluded that copyright protection in e-commerce is a constantly evolving challenge. However, through legal measures, international cooperation, education and collaboration with e-commerce platforms, it is possible to mitigate infringements and promote a safer and more IP-friendly digital environment in the future.
