Migración venezolana y vulnerabilidad social en la ciudad de manta, año 2024.

Abstract

The present research project, whose theme refers to “Venezuelan Migrat ion and Social Vulnerabilit y in the Cit y of Manta, year 2024”, aims to explore the experiences of migration and forced displacement of the Venezuelan population in the city of Manta by studying the quality of life, as well as observing subsistence strategies acquired by Venezuelan migrants. Within the framework of the problem, the social vulnerability to which Venezuelan migrants are exposed in the country influences not only the economic quality of life, but also their psychological well-being, their sense of belonging and their ability to fully engage in society. The study took a qualitative approach with a phenomenological method, using the analytical-synthetic and descriptive method for the interpretation of the data. In addition, it was based on the participation of different key informants, using interviews and life history as data collection techniques. The results reflect that Venezuelan migrants in Manta suffer from a complicated situation of social vulnerability arising from various causes. Although many of them are trying to achieve a better future as a result of the serious social and economic instability in Venezuela, they have faced considerable challenges, such as the lack of formal employment, unstable work environments, exclusion and problems accessing basic services such as housing, health and education.
