Abstract

The present work titled “Technology and Its Impact on Family Dynamics in the Las Jacuatas Neighborhood of Montecristi Canton, 2024” was developed with the aim of analyzing the impact of technology on the family dynamics of the inhabitants of the Las Jacuatas neighborhood, Montecristi Canton, in 2024. It arises because technology is a fundamental pillar in human life, but when its use is excessive, it becomes a problem that directly affects family dynamics. Therefore, as part of the problem statement, the question is highlighted: How does technology impact the family dynamics of the inhabitants of the Las Jacuatas neighborhood in Montecristi Canton? To address this, the methodology employed had a quantitative, descriptive, cross-sectional, and non-experimental approach. The methods used were inductive-deductive and bibliographic; the technique employed was the survey, with the instrument being a questionnaire applied to a representative sample of families in the Las Jacuatas neighborhood. Results include that 54% of respondents stated that excessive use of technology has indeed caused alterations in their family dynamics, and 58% identified the decrease in family time as the main alteration observed. It is concluded that among the effects of excessive technology use on family dynamics, the decrease in shared time, problems with effective communication, and family conflicts stand out. Additionally, there are inhabitants who believe that technology has a positive impact, while others perceive it negatively.
