Trabajo social en la prevención del femicidio en la cuidad de Manta, año 2024.

Abstract

The present research entitled “Social Work in the Prevention of Femicide in the city of Manta, year 2024” had the objective of analyzing the role of Social Work in the prevention of femicide. Femicide represents a serious social problem that affects many communities around the world, in the city of Manta, this phenomenon has acquired a worrying relevance due to the frequency with which it occurs and the negative implications it has on families, the methodology used in this study was mixed descriptive and the design was sequential explanatory, in order to reflect on the challenges and opportunities faced by Social Work in its commitment to the eradication of gender violence, Within the qualitative methodology, a semi-structured interview was used with the Social Worker of the Casa de la Mujer in “La Pradera” and in the quantitative methodology, statistical data was collected using a structured questionnaire with eight closed and multiple choice questions directed to the inhabitants of Manta, in which a total of 55 responses were collected. The results revealed that the inhabitants of Manta have observed acts of violence against women, which confirms the prevalence of this problem in the city, it is concluded that Social Work plays an important role as a mediator and articulator in the construction of support networks for victims through interventions from a gender and human rights perspective, focusing on women's empowerment, emotional support and community awareness.
