dc.description.abstractThis study analyzed the consumption of alcohol and drugs and its impact on the academic performance of pregnant students of the Universidad Laica “Eloy Alfaro de Manabí” during the academic period 2024(1), this study was relevant for its contribution to the understanding of this problem that affected both the development of the baby and the psychological and social environment of the students, especially in their academic performance, The main objective was to know the pregnant students perception of substance consumption and a mixed methodology was used with concurrent triangulation strategies, applying techniques such as interviews with the professionals responsible for the University Welfare Department, including the Physician, Psychologist and Social Worker, and surveys to pregnant students to collect data on alcohol and drug consumption, The results indicated that consumption was related to various emotional, economic and social factors, negatively impacting the students' academic activities and fetal development. The research concluded with recommendations to implement prevention and support programs that address the underlying causes of substance use, including workshops on stress management, psychological and medical counseling, as they promote the emotional and academic well-being of the students.es
