Abstract

The present research project whose theme refers to "The perception of local development in migrant groups from the Manta canton, in the year 2024" is marked by the search for better economic opportunities and adaptation to a new environment. Many migrants arrive in Manta driven by the lack of employment and a decent future in their places of origin. Despite facing significant challenges, such as mobility and culture shock, the majority report improvements in their economic situation thanks to the possibility of finding work or starting their own businesses. The relationship between migrants and the local community is complex; Although some migrants experience mistrust and resistance from residents, there are also opportunities to build positive ties. Migrants contribute to local development through job creation and knowledge transfer, highlighting their role as agents of change in the local economy. Cultural adaptation is a gradual process, where migrants learn about the culture of Manta without forgetting their own traditions. Despite the challenges, many see opportunities for growth and development, both personal and community. To maximize these benefits, it is crucial to foster an inclusive environment that recognizes and values the contributions of migrants, thus promoting sustainable and equitable development in the Manta canton.
