Incremento de peso en terneros al destete alimentados con gramínea de corte e Hibiscus rosa-sinensis.

Abstract

The essay weight gain in calves at weaning fed with cut grass and Hibiscus rosa-sinensis was developed at Rancho Santa Leonor, property of Lcdo. Walberto Vélez Franco at kilometer 4, Sumita-Pita site, on the right bank in the canton El Carmen, Manabí, located in a humid tropical bioclimate zone with irregular topography. Its main activity is focused on the production of barraganete plantain for export and beef cattle. These activities are adapted to the natural environment and contribute to local economic development, taking advantage of the favorable climate and geography conditions of the region. Three animals were selected and housed in individual pens, where they had devices for ad libitum water, mineralized salt and chopped grass. A completely randomized design with three treatments and ten observations was used and its results were analyzed by applying the Tukey significance test of means in the INFOSTAT statistical program. The best results were obtained with the treatment with dehydrated grass for 24 hours with an increase of 0.65 kg/day, with a feed conversion of 10.37 based on dry matter and 45.69 in relation to green matter consumption.
