Terapia ocupacional en pacientes tras egreso de la unidad de cuidados intensivos.

Abstract

The intervention of the occupational therapist in patients after discharge from the intensive care unit is a priority to achieve a successful rehabilitation, since it must be guided based on the type and degree of disability that the user presents, since it is the starting point where through the first assessment the levels of intervention, the different activities to be executed and the duration and frequency of the same will be determined, which should focus mainly on early mobility, ADL (activities of daily living), cognitive and sensory stimulation. Due to this, the general objective that was raised is to analyze the intervention of the occupational therapist in enhancing the capacities of patients after discharge from the intensive care unit, which showed us the important role that the occupational therapist plays in these cases. The methodological approach of the present research is of a systematic nature, which was developed through the bibliographic review, where it was concluded that a fundamental part of the intervention of the occupational therapist in patients after discharge from the ICU, focuses on the assessment carried out by the professional together with the doctor in charge of the case; and thus be able to carry out actions that favor the patient's condition.
