Abstract

In the maritime sector, artificial intelligence (AI) significantly improves the efficiency of port operations. At the Port of Manta, AI is used to monitor and monitor port areas, detecting cargo and product movements and managing security in areas such as the dock to prevent shipwrecks and collisions. Since February, the Port Terminal of Manta (TPM) implemented a charge for the use of security scanners, with competitive rates to recover a national investment of USD 55 million in technology, which includes four scanners operational since November 2022. The port applies advanced control systems, such as cameras, drones, biometric identification and tracking devices, ensuring the monitoring of perimeters and accesses in strategic areas, such as the jetty and the Yacht Club. Despite these efforts, the implementation and maintenance of these security measures presents significant challenges.
