Abstract

The study analyzed the capacity and demand for parking in the Centenario Agustín Intriago Megapark in Manta, with the objective of projecting demand until 2034. It was based on the problem of the growing dependence on private vehicles in Latin America and its effects on congestion. vehicular traffic and road occupation. The Megapark, a new recreational space in Manta, required an analysis of the capacity of its parking lots to avoid congestion and ensure its long-term viability. The research was justified by its potential to optimize infrastructure, improve user experience and contribute to urban sustainability. A descriptive and quantitative analysis was carried out, collecting data through direct observation and vehicle counts for one week. Indicators such as average occupancy, vehicle rotation and demand peaks were calculated. The results showed an average occupancy of 87.37% during peak hours, especially on weekends, with high vehicle turnover. An increase in parking demand was projected through 2034, using a multiple linear regression model. It was concluded that the current capacity is sufficient for days of low demand, but insufficient during peak hours and massive events, so dynamic management strategies are needed to optimize the use of space.
