Este método permite evaluar de forma precisa la capacidad estructural de edificaciones frente a cargas extremas, identificando vulnerabilidades críticas que podrían comprometer su seguridad en eventos sísmicos severos.es
dc.description.abstractThe main objective of this research is to evaluate the seismic-resistant performance of the Electricity building of the Universidad Laica Eloy Alfaro de Manabí, ULEAM, by means of a non-linear static analysis, also known as “Pushover”. This method allows to accurately evaluate the structural capacity of buildings against extreme loads, identifying critical vulnerabilities that could compromise their safety in severe seismic events. Ecuador is an area of high seismic activity where large magnitude earthquakes have been recorded, such as the one in 2016 that significantly affected Manabí and Esmeraldas. In this context, the study analyzes the structure of the aforementioned building to determine its capacity to resist seismic movements, using models created in ETABS software. The work includes a detailed survey of the structure, the collection of data on the construction materials and the existing structural design. In addition, a comparison of the results obtained with the requirements established in ASCE 41-17 and NEC-15 is performed. Key aspects such as deformation capacity, inelastic response of materials and two performance objectives are evaluated. The results obtained identify structural deficiencies and the need to design reinforcements, guaranteeing not only the safety of the building, but also that of its occupants and contents. The study demonstrates the importance of applying advanced analysis to existing structures, especially in areas of high seismicity, to prevent serious damage and avoid human and material losses.es
