Abstract

Social sustainability has become an essential component in the management of tourism ventures, seeking to balance economic development with the well-being of local communities. This study aims to analyze social sustainability in the management of tourism ventures in Bahía de Caráquez, Ecuador. A mixed methodology was used, combining qualitative and quantitative approaches, utilizing surveys and interviews to collect data from local entrepreneurs. The main results indicate that, while 62% of entrepreneurs consider themselves committed to social inclusion, only 38% effectively measure their social impact. Furthermore, 46% perceive management obstacles as challenging, suggesting the need for improved training and available resources. The research concludes that, although there is growing awareness of the importance of social sustainability, it is essential to implement more effective and practical strategies to strengthen the integration of these initiatives in the tourism sector. This will not only benefit entrepreneurs, but will also contribute to sustainable development and the well-being of the local community, ensuring that tourism is an equitable source of income that respects the social and cultural environment.
