Resumen : | In partial edentulism, tooth loss affects both mental and physical health, influences the stomatognathic system, alters occlusion, functionality, pronunciation and aesthetics, theref ore, it is necessary to use Kennedy's classification to determine the most appropriate treatment. This research has a qualitative, descriptive, observational, cross-sectional and retrospective approach, with the aim of determining the prevalence of partial edentulous in the Dental Clinic III of the ULEAM in the period 2023-2 according to the Kennedy classification. A total of 286 patients were reviewed, according to inclusion criteria, 103 patients were selected, 34 male and 69 female. Data on each patient' s gender, age, county, nationality, dental arch, and Kennedy classes were processed in Microsoft Excel. There are 206 cases corresponding to both arches, of which 173 present partial edentulism. For the analysis, descriptive statistics of absolute and relative frequencies were used. The results show that there is a high percentage in partial bimaxillary edentulous patients, compared to partial edentulism it is higher in women, in lower arches, in the counties of Manta and Tarqui, in the Ecuadorian nationali ty. Likewise, a higher prevalence of Kennedy class III is shown in both arches, in both genders, in the range of 43-61 years and in urban and rural counties. Concluding that, of the patients treated, class III predominates over the other classes and the Kennedy class with the fewest cases was class IV. |
