Abstract

Throughout history, humanity has faced three major threats: famine, epidemics, and war. One of the most recent epidemics first emerged in Wuhan, a city located in central China. The causative agent of this new pneumonia, which in a large number of cases progressed to severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS), turned out to be a novel coronavirus, highly pathogenic and highly transmissible between humans. In a short time, this infection transformed into a pandemic. The objective of this research was to analyze the Covid-19 vaccination guidelines for older adults. For this purpose, a documentary methodology was used, based on bibliographic reviews of indexed sources, using analytical, inductive, and deductive methods, along with specific inclusion and exclusion criteria. The search was conducted through the Google Scholar search engine in databases such as Scielo, Elsevier, and Pubmed, using descriptors such as: educational strategies, nursing care for older adults, Covid-19, and the older adult. The analysis was framed within Dorothea Orem's self-care theory model, Jean Watson's transpersonal care theory, and Callista Roy's adaptation model. Among the results obtained, it was possible to characterize the current status of inoculation in older adults, as well as the intervention of nursing care. Regarding the concluding aspects, these findings will allow for continued implementation and strategies that contribute to improving this problem. Furthermore, the results could be applied in future research aimed at promoting self-care and improving the quality of life of older adults during the COVID-19 pandemic.
