Abstract

This research refers to the role of the occupational therapist in the sexuality of people with disabilities, so the objective of this research is to determine the intervention strategies of the occupational therapist in the sexuality of people with disabilities. The methodological design used in this research is qualitative, based on search engines such as Google Scholar, Scielo and Pubmed with a minimum publication age of 10 years in English and Spanish. Within the results obtained from the investigation of the 27 articles used, they tell us that there are myths and stereotypes around the sexuality of people with disabilities, since popular belief establishes that a person with disabilities loses their sexuality and all possibility of conceive an individual and family life project. Also, in several he mentions the importance of creating a guide to intervene in sexuality from the point of view of occupational therapy. In conclusion, it was identified that the professionals had little or no academic training in the area of sexuality.
