Abstract

This research project, entitled "Role of the Social Worker in the Adoption Processes in the Technical Unit of the MIES Manabí Coordination" had the specific purpose of determining the role of the Social Worker in the adoption processes, it was developed from a qualitative methodology, recognizing adoption as a comprehensive protection measure for children and adolescents in vulnerable situations, this research deepens the functions performed by the Social Worker, as well as the intervention carried out in each of the phases of the processes, in addition, the methodologies of Social Work that this applies are exposed professional in the adoption processes, in the same way the profile or characteristics that the applicant family must have to be qualified suitable is raised. For all this, the interview technique was applied, using a guide of semi-structured questions validated by experts, this instrument was applied to professionals involved in the adoption processes in order to obtain truthful information, with respect to the results it was obtained that the intervention of the Social Worker plays a fundamental role within the Technical Adoption Unit, since its actions are not only oriented to the collection of data, but also to the comprehensive understanding of the family reality, through exhaustive, ethical and professional investigation, since the Social Worker carries out assessments that allow the suitability to the applicant family, this professional work guarantees responsible and sustainable decisions, contributing directly to the construction of safe, protective, permanent and emotionally healthy family ties.
