El turismo MICE: análisis del turismo de reuniones en la ciudad de Manta provincia de Manabí.

Abstract

MICE tourism is characterized by being an activity that consists of the development of congresses, meetings, conventions and others. This research project consists of analyzing meeting tourism in the Manta canton, Manabí province. Regarding the methodology, the design is quantitative, the research is descriptive. Emphasizing the methods, the analytical-synthetic method was used and the survey technique was also used. A survey questionnaire was applied to the 95 owners/representatives of establishments that provide tourist services in the Manta canton. Among the results it is shown that MICE tourism in the Manta canton is in a recovery process, after the COVID-19 pandemic. Its full reactivation will depend on the resilience of tourism service providers and the measures implemented to attract tourists again. Regarding tourist services, accommodation and service personnel receive a good rating, unlike catering, signage, accessibility, connectivity and transportation. In this context, tourism managers are oriented to work in a concatenated manner with the private sector and thus solve the aspects that do not allow the development of the Manta canton with respect to the MICE sector. At the end, a set of strategies that contribute to the growth of this tourist activity are elaborated, among the main actions are: Planning meetings and congresses with international speakers, training for tourism service providers, conversations between public-private representatives, among others.
