Variabilidad climática y la producción de cacao (Theobroma cacao) en el cantón El Carmen, Manabí.

Abstract

The objective of this research was to evaluate the climatic variability and production of cocoa (Theobroma cacao) in the canton of El Carmen, Manabí. For this purpose, information on climatic conditions was collected from two climatic stations, Puerto Ila and La Concordia, and a correlation and simple regression analysis was carried out. The variables evaluated were production, monilla and witches' broom incidence. The results showed that when comparing meteorological parameters (temperature and precipitation) versus cocoa crop (Theobroma cacao) production in the canton of El Carmen, Manabí, results were detected based on correlation analysis and not linear regression; that is, the level of association between variables. There was a strong correlation or degree of association of the variables rainfall and temperature with respect to cocoa (Theobroma cacao) production with values of 0,92 (92%) and 0,84 (84%), respectively.
