Abstract

The topic of this degree work is “Urban revitalization of the sector the Central Lagoon of the El Carmen canton”, whose main problem is the degradation of the natural landscape and built context, which has been caused by the presence of 65 homes informally settled for more than two decades on the edge of the lagoon. The object of study It is located in the natural lagoon that is in the urban center of the city of El Carmen, included between Abdón Calderón, García Moreno streets, and the internal streets of the sector P and Q, the study was ddressed since the earthquake of April 16, 2016, whose This event gave way to new studies and urban interventions. The objective of the investigation is to determine the current situation of the Laguna sector Central and develop a proposal for revitalization in the urban landscape, said sector is part of the Water Memory integrative project, which is made up of two more territories, the Suma River of the Salazar lotization and the natural lagoon of the Atenas neighborhood. In the research process, 380 people from the urban center of EL were surveyed. Carmen through the questionnaire technique, the result of which was that the degradation of the lagoon has been caused by the pollution that the inhabitants have generated year after year of the sector, they also aspire that the informal housing be relocated and that the sector be converted into a public space. For the diagnosis of the research, an analysis of the urban center of El Carmen, where the main components of the city were identified, including risk, mobility, equipment, infrastructure, morphology, etc., the analysis of the current situation of the Laguna Central sector. With the preparation of the proposal it is intended convert the marginalized space into a resilient place, full of vitality and with new elements urban.
