Abstract

The conflict between Russia and Ukraine, which began in February 2022, has had a significant impact on the global economy, including Ecuadorian exports. In particular, the Ecuadorian shrimp sector was one of the most affected by the conflict. Ecuadorian shrimp exports to Russia and Ukraine represented 15% of total Ecuadorian shrimp exports in 2021. In 2022, shrimp exports to Russia and Ukraine decreased by 12.8% and 73%, respectively, compared to 2021.
