Análisis de la demanda en la utilización de fundas de tela como sustituto de la funda plástica en la Provincia de Manabí.

Abstract

The demand for plastic bags is high, however, there are other ecological alternatives that can mitigate this social problem and should be socialized. The general objective of this study was to analyze the demand for the use of cloth bags as a substitute for plastic bags in order to reduce pollution and contribute to sustainable development in the province of Manabí. The methodology had a mixed quantitative-qualitative approach, through a descriptive and field research, which used the inductive, deductive and analytical method in the processing of information, as well as a survey of 73 inhabitants of the province of Manabí and interviews with suppliers and municipal authorities. Among the results, it was found that the population at the provincial level buys weekly using between 4 to 6 bags on average, preferring plastic for aspects of comfort, second use and resistance, emphasizing that these are free in the places of purchase. It is concluded that the demand for cloth bags is low, so strategies were proposed to increase their consumption through actions focused on the product, price, place and promotion, using as tools the communication that promotes ecological awareness through social networks, media such as television and even physical advertising, promoting the slogan "reduce, reuse and recycle".
