Resumen : The research entitled “Micromachismo and its impact on women's self-esteem in the Los Bajos community and Aníbal San Andrés parish of the Montecristi canton, year 2024” addressed how these behaviors affect the self-esteem of women in these sectors. This problem, based on attitudes of control and devaluation towards women, significantly affects their psychological well-being. The general objective was to determine how micromachismo influences the self-esteem of women in these sectors. The methodology was mixed, collecting quantitative data through surveys applied to 300 women and qualitative data through in-depth interviews with 20 participants, selected for their relationship with the phenomenon studied. The results showed that micromachismo is deeply rooted in cultural patterns and social norms, reflected in traditional gender roles that limit female autonomy. The women showed low self-esteem and difficulties in establishing egalitarian relationships. The interviews made it possible to identify that many of these attitudes are normalized, making it difficult to make them visible and question. In conclusion, micromachismo negatively impacts women's self-esteem, perpetuating inequalities and affecting their quality of life. Community sensitization strategies and educational programmes that promote gender equality were recommended. In addition, it was suggested to implement empowerment workshops aimed at women to strengthen their self-esteem and promote their integral development. These measures could contribute to transforming the cultural patterns that sustain micromachismo, promoting more equitable relationships in these communities.
