Abstract

The present study analyzes the influence of social intervention on the quality of life of elderly adults attending the Patronato Municipal de Manta during the year 2024. The increasing vulnerability and exclusion faced by this population group highlight the importance of promoting their comprehensive well-being and dignified aging. In this context, the relevance of social workers emerges to intervene technically in areas such as family, health, autonomy, and emotional well-being. The purpose of the research was to analyze social intervention to improve the living conditions of elderly adults. The methodology employed a qualitative approach with a phenomenological and hermeneutic epistemological foundation. Data collection techniques included interviews and observation, with an interview guide comprising eight questions as the primary instrument. This guide was applied to seven elderly adults and one social worker. The main findings revealed that the interventions align with the technical regulations governing geriatric centers and ensure that the beneficiaries receive services offered by the institution, such as health care, psychological support, and social assistance. These interventions are carried out with warmth, empathy, a humanistic approach, and the participation of a multidisciplinary team that evaluates detected cases and develops intervention plans to improve the quality of life of elderly adults. Therefore, the professional approach focuses specifically on medical and social care, addressing key barriers such as stigma, lack of family support, and socioeconomic challenges through communication, direct contact, and individual interventions.
