Resumen : Drug use is a multifactorial problem in which the immediate environment plays a major role in the development of this type of habits that affect the integral development of individuals. Based on this, the objective of this study was to determine the role of student peers and their influence on drug use among Uleam students, year 2024. As a methodology, a study of quantitative approach, descriptive level and non-experimental design was used, the population was taken as students of the Faculty of Social Sciences, Law and Welfare of the Uleam and a survey was applied to a sample of 325 individuals. Through this, it was found that 82% of students have observed drug use among their peers, with alcohol and cigarettes being the most frequent; 85% considered that student peers influence the use of these substances and 18% have felt constant pressure from their immediate group; As consequences, 85% mentioned changes in the behavior of their peers, 51% mentioned health problems and 98% mentioned that academic performance was affected; social relations were rated by 21% as bad and by 35% as regular; 83% considered that this consumption affects relations with the peer group. It is therefore concluded that student peers do influence drug use within the university environment, which negatively affects social relations in this context.
Descripción : El consumo de drogas es un problema de origen multifactorial en el que el entorno inmediato ejerce un rol principal al momento de desarrollar este tipo de hábitos de afectación al desarrollo integral de los individuos.
