Importancia de la Represa Simbocal y su Influencia en el Turismo Ecológico del Estuario Rio Chone.

Abstract

The present work aims to evaluate the importance of the Simbocal dam and its influence on ecological tourism in the Chone River estuary. The research addresses the problem of the lack of exploitation of the dam's tourism potential and the difficulties related to insufficient infrastructure, limited tourism promotion and the scarcity of organized recreational activities. Deductive and inductive methods were applied, complemented by empirical techniques such as surveys of the inhabitants of the Simbocal community and interviews with the dam representative. These approaches allowed to collect relevant information on the current situation of the dam and its impact on tourism. As a result, significant barriers to tourism development in the area were identified, but the potential of implementing sustainable strategies that promote ecological tourism was also evident. These include strengthening community tourism, technical training and the promotion of recreational and cultural activities. The results of this research are expected to contribute to proposing strategic plans to boost the local economy, improve the quality of life of nearby communities and promote the sustainable use of natural resources associated with the Simbocal dam.
