Abstract

This research focuses on studying the development of female leadership within the context of the Leonidas Plaza neighborhood in the Sucre canton of Manabí, Ecuador, given that barriers to women's entry into the workforce are still visible in the country. The objective was to analyze female leadership as a contribution to family businesses on the main avenue of Leonidas Plaza. The methods used were descriptive with a qualitative approach and the following methods: inductive-deductive, analytical-synthetic, and historical-logical, with the application of in-depth interview techniques to entrepreneurs who have their businesses in this location. As a result, it was learned that women who have started their businesses are, on average, over ten years old, and that since their inception, they have faced various difficulties related to the economy, such as a lack of capital and social barriers, such as the stigmatization of the environment, since women were considered unfit for an entrepreneurial role. Despite this, these businesses have been the mainstay of the family economy.
