Abstract

Through this series of works, the issue of animal abuse is explored from an artistic perspective, using visual language to raise awareness and reflection on the attributes that define each species and their vulnerability to humans. The series consists of four pictorial works in an expressionist and realist style that address animal abuse in different settings and circumstances. They also address speciesism, inviting reflection on the impact of cultural beliefs and our deep-rooted sense of superiority, which is reflected in our behavior toward the most vulnerable beings. Furthermore, by being based on the five freedoms of animals, the ethical responsibility to ensure their well-being is emphasized. Painting stands out as a valuable artistic medium that allows for deep symbolic reflection, consolidating it as a key tool for raising awareness about animal welfare and questioning our relationship with other species.
