La IA como herramienta de investigación en estudiantes universitarios. Caso ULEAM Manta.

Abstract

The purpose of this work was to analyze the patterns of use of AI tools by ULEAM students. The research used a quantitative approach, descriptive design, working with a sample of 60 students from different careers that make up the Faculty of Social Sciences, Law and Welfare of the Universidad Laica Eloy Alfaro de Manabí. A questionnaire-type survey was used for data collection, which was validated by experts, yielding a reliability value of 0.98 in the Cronbach's Alpha test. The research results reflected a preference in free access tools, with ChatGPT being the dominant one with 91,66% compared to the others, the most common functions were information search (23%), Document Interpretation (20%), and writing and editing (16%). Likewise, the findings underline how positive attitudes towards AI tools predominate, although a certain percentage of the population expresses concern about their impact on society.
