Intervenciones de enfermería en pacientes con síndromes depresivos.

Abstract

Within this research, we analyze how nursing interventions can be used in patients with depressive syndromes to improve their quality of life and avoid relapses. This analysis is carried out in the context of Ecuador, where depression is one of the most significant problems in the field of mental health. The study has a documentary approach, based on the review of articles published between the years 2017 and 2024 found in recognized academic databases. The results highlight that nursing interventions include psychotherapeutic strategies, emotional support, medication management, patient education, and physical activity. Additionally, barriers such as the lack of resources and adequate staff training were identified, along with challenges related to early detection and continuous monitoring. The research concludes with the need to implement continuous training programs for nursing professionals, strengthening interdisciplinary collaboration. Likewise, it highlights the importance of designing educational guidelines to optimize care for patients with depression. It is recommended to promote public policies focused on the prevention and comprehensive treatment of depression, ensure the availability of adequate resources, and encourage future research to adapt practices to the specific needs of the Ecuadorian population.
