Abstract

To My Enemies by Dolores Veintimilla de Galindo, a poem that has been the subject of an analysis focused on both content and form. The study addresses the problems of the construction of female identity and resistance to ruthless social criticism in the context of 19th-century Cuenca. The general objective: To carry out a poetic analysis of To My Enemies by Dolores Veintimilla de Galindo, in order to understand the literary and stylistic language, its emotions, and how it constructs a critique of identity to the system of that time. The specific objectives are to examine the poetic structure of To My Enemies to understand how it contributes to the construction of the message and tone of the text; to explore the social criticism and autobiographical elements in the poem To My Enemies; to identify the representation of emotions and internal conflicts in the poem To My Enemies to glimpse how the author's personal and social experiences are reflected; and to relate the work's message to the 19th-century context and how it can be reflected in contemporary themes. The methodology consists of an in-depth literary analysis that includes hermeneutics for the interpretation of the texts, resources, and themes. The results show the form of the poem deeply linked to a poetic voice that expresses an emotional intensity tied to the conflicts of life. In conclusion, there is an intrinsic relationship with Veintimilla's life and her poems, denouncing the social and emotional as a form of resistance to 19th-century oppression in Cuenca.
