Resumen : | This case study analyzes the role of the Chief Information Officer in strategic information management for the Human Resources department of Conservas Isabel, at the Manta plant. At the local level, there is no direct presence of a technology leader to train staff in the use of tools to evaluate the performance of the company's employees and provide quality information shared for decision-making within the department. It can be observed that, at a global level, this organization, being part of an international team, has needs that are not aligned with the level of technology found in other countries. Therefore, an in-depth investigation was conducted into the local needs of the Human Resources department regarding information management through the technological tools available in this area. This study explored the challenges faced by the Human Resources department in providing technological solutions and how the CIO could strengthen data digitization and security, which positively impacts the optimization of these processes by developing communication skills in this area. Consequently, it was possible to obtain, using a qualitative approach through an interview and observation sheet, needs, competencies and opportunities for improvement, recommending the incorporation of a local CIO or a similar figure to assume the responsibilities of this leader, who guarantees the strengthening and development of operational and organizational competencies, establishing continuous training in key tools for updating and information security, optimizing processes, reducing time and improving the efficiency of the Human Resources department of Conservas Isabel S.A. |
Descripción : | El presente estudio de caso analiza el rol del Chief Information Officer en la gestión de información estratégica del departamento de Recursos Humanos de Conservas Isabel, en la planta de Manta. A nivel local, no cuenta con la presencia directa de un líder en tecnología que capacite al personal en el manejo de herramientas para evaluar el rendimiento de los trabajadores de la empresa y brindar calidad en la información que se comparte para la toma de decisiones dentro del departamento. |
