Abstract

The thesis work addresses the design of a biosafety manual for the prevention of biological risks in the pig farming establishment of the "Finca Tigrillo" Management, Innovation and Knowledge Transfer Center of the Laica Eloy Alfaro University of Manabí. The research focused on the identification of biological risk activities and factors in the pig farming establishment, the collection of basic biosafety information, and the development of a manual to improve biosafety practices on the farm. A qualitative methodology was used through bibliographic research, observation, and interviews to demonstrate the current biosafety conditions on the establishment. It is concluded that it is necessary to improve biosafety practices to prevent biological risks in pig production. The work constitutes a useful tool for optimizing biosafety on the pig farming establishment and improving the quality and safety of pig products.
