Abstract

This work recognizes the importance of teaching mathematics in secondary education and some implications that can enrich the learning process of students. Find a way to study the history of mathematics, the evolution, development and maturation of concepts over time, especially sets of numbers, what a great resource for teaching, giving meaning to teaching practice. This study was carried out within the field of mathematics education and is interdisciplinary in nature, that is, the research problem is addressed in an integrated manner, with contributions from the following disciplines: In the field of the historical evolution of the concept of set of numbers survey conducted. Like the bibliographic type, this investigative work is of a qualitative and quantitative nature, using research tools such as surveys, interviews and observation sheets. In population and sample we will take as a base the Fiscomisional Educational Unit "Cinco de Mayo" of the Chone Canton, the students of eighth secondary level and their mathematics teacher.
