Determinación de la sostenibilidad turística de la zona rural de manta.

Abstract

The present work corresponds to the institutional research project "Integrated and intelligent management methodology of destinations for the homogeneous improvement of tourist quality. Manabi Province. Considering the significant boom that rural tourism is currently experiencing and the impact that this activity generates in these environments, it is necessary to determine tourism sustainability through indicators that allow efficient management of the activity. The objective of this research is to identify, based on indicators, the tourism sustainability of the rural area of Manta, Santa Marianita case. This research uses the deductive method, and the technique of focus group or group of actors was used. It also includes part of the conceptualization of rural tourism and its sustainability and the application and quantification of indicators. This analysis makes it possible to identify the dimensions of the sustainability of rural destinations and the variables with the highest incidence to generate the list of indicators. The theoretical list of indicators is applied in rural destinations in Manta, in the case of Santa Marianita, and results in a system made up of three dimensions (tourism planning, care and conservation of the environment, and social sustainability) that includes 40 indicators. The results suggest that the destination Santa Marianita is not touristically sustainable, therefore, it is suggested to implement management and planning measures that promote sustainable tourism development.
