Análisis de la relación puerto-ciudad, su influencia e impacto en la configuración vial de la ciudad de Manta desde los años 60 hasta la actualidad.

Abstract

The analysis of the Port-City relationship, its influence and impact on the City of Manta from the 1960s to the present, produced a bibliographic review of historical sources that allowed us to describe how the development of the port has been and its impact on the city dynamics. In this sense, the relationship generated between the port facilities and the city that surrounds it develops in a harmonious and balanced way, since such reciprocity is based on links of a functional and spatial nature: the first, product of the relationship due to industrial, commercial and transportation activities and the second, product of the geographical proximity of the two. It is concluded that there is no doubt the incidence at the provincial level of the evolution that the port of Manta has had in recent years, considered the first economic engine of growth and development of this important locality and for the Ecuadorian country. It is significant in terms of the contribution in the generation of direct and indirect jobs, in addition to the port services it provides to the industries installed in the province, especially for the fishing industry.
