Hermenéutica de la novela “sed en el puerto” e interpretación sociocultural en los ciudadanos mantenses.

Abstract

Literature, even if it is fiction, when a truth is felt, becomes an anecdote for the innocent. In this case, hermeneutics allows us to understand the context in which the work was developed and compare it with its current reality, which leads to the interpretation of the novel “Thirst in the Port” by Othón Castillo Vélez. It reflects the symbolism of “thirst” as a mirror of the injustice and irony of Manta, which surrounds itself with water, but does not satisfy the needs of its inhabitants. This problem persists, after the book was published 62 years ago, the appeasement of the mantenses has harmed them in all this time. This study has been carried out through a qualitative approach, using only qualitative instruments, such as interviews and bibliographic review. Through the results, it was determined that there are three major socio-cultural weaknesses such as: disinterest or low cultural initiative with respect to water, as well as the municipal lack of concern for action and the deficit in the empowerment of literature to reflect or make society react.
