Abstract

The present research work tries to analyze the contribution of the role of parents in school performance, through bibliographic sources and field research, with the purpose of overcoming the problem of students in 5th year of general basic education in the areas of Mathematics, Language and Literature, parallel “B” and “C” of the Educational Unit “El Carmen”, Canton El Carmen, Province of Manabi, school year 2024-2025. Within this research process, the methodology used is based on testing a hypothesis by statistical means, in other words, it determines the parameters of a given variable through numerical expression. The population under study were the parents and students of the 5th year of general basic education of the Educational Unit, likewise, questionnaires were used, with categorized questions that seek to identify the role of parents in the academic performance of their children. It is useful to indicate that academic performance is a set of variables that affect the success or failure of the student, and that the role of parents is a fundamental factor that directly promotes learning and socioemotional development of students. Among the conclusions derived, it is specified that the role of parents is fundamental in school performance, therefore, it is useful that they resemble and relate to the academic activities that can enhance day by day the emotional and attitudinal capabilities of their children.
