Resumen : This research, entitled “Tourist Safety and its importance in tourist destinations. Case: Balneario San Clemente”, was developed with the objective of analyzing how the perception of tourist safety influences the influx of tourists and the quality of life of the residents of Balneario San Clemente, located in the canton of Sucre, province of Manabí. This study seeks to identify the factors that affect tourist safety and propose strategies to strengthen it. The methodological design adopted a quantitative approach, using techniques such as surveys of key informants, in this case, 13 neighborhood presidents, who provided relevant information on local security dynamics. In addition, a descriptive approach was used, complemented by field observation, to characterize the current state of tourism safety in the resort. The results obtained made it possible to identify the main vulnerabilities in infrastructure, security services and citizen perception, as well as their impact on the tourist experience. Based on these findings, the “Security and Surveillance Plan for Tourist Zones, Balneario San Clemente” is proposed, whose objective is to guarantee a reliable environment that fosters the growth of sustainable tourism and the improvement of the local community's quality of life.
