Abstract

The study of this research focuses on analyzing how territorial planning can optimize the design of the El Rocío tourist trail, located in the Machalilla parish, with the purpose of positioning this town as an attractive and commercially viable tourist destination. A quantitative methodology was used to obtain more detailed information about the area, based on a historical study and direct observation. To complete this analysis, interviews were also conducted with residents and service providers. Likewise, based on this information and a SWOT analysis, the main strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats of the site were identified. The results obtained allowed for a precise diagnosis of the current situation of tourist services and the needs of visitors. Based on this diagnosis, a participatory strategic plan is proposed that prioritizes community well-being and seeks to redesign the El Rocío trail, incorporating appropriate signage. It is expected that this initiative will contribute to a better organization of the tourist space, facilitating the orientation of visitors and promoting a more efficient and pleasant experience, which in turn will stimulate the local economy.
