Abstract

The work presented below aimed to analyze the economic and social impact of rural tourism on the communities of Ligüiqui, Pacoche, and San Lorenzo. The methodology was based on a documentary review and non-experimental analysis, including a current literature review on rural tourism and its impact within the communities, conducted through a non-experimental analysis with surveys and unstructured interviews with key actors in the tourism sector. The economic and social impact of rural tourism in Ligüiqui, Pacoche, and San Lorenzo stands out for its positive transformation in these communities. Economically, rural tourism diversified local income by creating direct and indirect jobs and increasing the range of services and products offered. Socially, it strengthened the sense of cultural identity, promoting the preservation of local traditions and improving quality of life through enhancements in infrastructure and public services. Sustainable tourism management is crucial to maintain these benefits in the long term and mitigate potential negative impacts, ensuring balanced and sustainable development in these regions.
