Resumen : Corn chicha is an ancestral beverage with an important cultural value in the Sancán parish, which also has a high potential for economic development and the promotion of local identity. In this context, the present study aimed to analyze the socioeconomic aspects related to the production of this traditional beverage, considering its relevance in the dynamization of the local economy and its impact on cultural tourism. To achieve this objective, a qualitative and quantitative methodology was used, employing techniques such as surveys and interviews with local producers, as well as an exhaustive documentary review of previous research and relevant literature. This methodological combination allowed for a comprehensive understanding of the social and economic dynamics associated with the production and commercialization of corn chicha. The results indicated that, although production faces challenges such as limitations in infrastructure and access to basic resources, strengths were also identified, such as the cultural rootedness of this beverage and its ability to attract the interest of tourists. The lack of access to potable water and the concentration of education at the basic levels affect the growth opportunities of these enterprises. The tourism and economic potential of chicha de maíz makes it a key activity for promoting development in the region. It is concluded that it is essential to strengthen local capacities through inclusive public policies and support programs that encourage the development of this enterprise, contributing to the socioeconomic well-being and the rescue of the cultural tradition of Sancán.
Descripción : La chicha de maíz es una bebida ancestral con un importante valor cultural en la parroquia Sancán, que además posee un alto potencial para el desarrollo económico y la promoción de la identidad local. En este contexto, el presente estudio tuvo como objetivo analizar los aspectos socioeconómicos relacionados con los emprendimientos de esta bebida tradicional, considerando su relevancia en la dinamización de la economía local y su impacto en el turismo cultural.
