Abstract

This research analyzing the problems of the freshwater resort of the Ayacucho route as a contribution to sustainable tourism in the Santa Ana canton of the province of Manabí, using the descriptive method, verifying the natural, cultural and social resources existing in this sector. and with the documentary review, strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats were identified to promote sustainable tourism development, with the general objective, the sustainability indicators found along the Agua Dulce spa route of the parish were evident. Ayacucho. With the specific objectives, the themes and subthemes were addressed. To carry out these studies, the inductive and deductive method was used, surveys were applied to the local community and tourists, interviews with spa owners, tour operators, and authorities. With the data obtained in all the information, it was possible to know the current reality of this sector. Within the investigation, it was possible to establish a series of problems that affect the contribution to sustainable tourism of this community and its surroundings, among which we can mention the pollution generated by solid and liquid waste from the wastewater that flows into the river, the poor management of waste, and the lack of involvement of the local community in tourist activities, the lack of support that the different recreational centers receive from local authorities in resource management, hindering the growth of the tourism sector, important for local development.
