Abstract

The current research consists of the analysis of sustainable tourism on Tarqui beach as a contribution to the local economy, in the Manta canton, province of Manabí. The methodology used is descriptive in nature, analytical-synthetic methods are used and survey and interview questionnaires are also constructed, the first is applied to tourists and residents, and the interview is applied to local actors. During the development of the research, it was found that Tarqui beach has several tourist activities, among the most notable are: Sun and beach tourism, gastronomic establishments, among others. Through the survey and interviews, it is evident that sustainability is essential for the good economic development in the area, which directly affects the loyalty of national and international tourists who come to this destination, this research in its final part concludes with a proposal for sustainable improvements in the restaurants in this sun and beach destination. The evaluation of the satisfaction of tourists and residents on Tarqui beach reveals a series of environmental problems, among which contamination by solid and liquid pollutants generated by nearby companies stands out, as well as other factors that disturb the harmony of the environment. Among the determining causes of these shortcomings are the poor implementation of programs and projects that promote sustainability, the limited diversity of attractions and tourist products offered, which hinders local development, and insufficient sensitivity and knowledge about the protection of the destination. tourist.
