dc.description.abstract | Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice is a profound work that reflects the different contexts in which 19th-century women lived, as well as the restricted social roles to which they were commonly associated: mother, wife, or object. Through her female characters, the author reveals social dynamics that allow for the establishment of significant differences or characteristics that can be related to the behaviors of women today. The problem arises from the need to make visible patriarchal structures not only of the time but also of the present; therefore, its context is 19th-century English society, as reflected in the work. The objective is to analyze the representation of women in the novel Pride and Prejudice as a reference for 19th-century female roles and stereotypes and their impact on today's society. Research was conducted using a qualitative methodology, based on in-depth interviews with experts in areas such as gender, psychology, and sociology, interviews with readers of the work, and a focus group aimed at a more diverse audience. Regarding the results, varied perspectives were presented, all of which emphasized the relevance of the work studied, identifying some stereotypes and social structures that can perpetuate themselves over time. In conclusion, the main contribution of this work lies in showing how Pride and Prejudice transcends its historical context, becoming a starting point for reflecting on the persistence or transformation of dynamics today. | es |
